ABOUT INTEL TEXAS

Austin is an important research and development center for the Intel® technology that is changing the way we live, work, and play. The Intel Texas team is focused on the design of both chipset and microprocessor components for mobile platforms.

Community Involvement

In 2009, Intel and its Austin employees donated more than USD 330,000 to the United Way. Through the Intel® Involved Matching Grants Program, over 100 Intel Texas employees reported nearly 4,000 volunteer hours. We helped raise money for the following organizations:

  • National Engineers Week—An annual visit to classrooms by Intel employees
  • Capital BEST—A yearly engineering contest designed to inspire students to pursue studies in the fields of science and engineering
  • Capital Area Food Bank—A nonprofit that provides food and grocery products to those in need
  • Adopt-a-Family—A way to support local families during the holidays
  • Introduce a Girl to Engineering—An event in partnership with the University of Texas that encourages young women to pursue technology fields

Education

Enabling the innovators of tomorrow is important to Intel Texas. During the 2008-2009 academic year, we focused our efforts on 14 local schools, and donated over USD 17,000 through the Intel Foundation. Some of the organizations that received Intel grants include:

  • Austin Independent School District—An organization that supports the Regional Science Festival
  • Girlstart—An Austin-based nonprofit that supports Aiming for Algebra Success, a math program targeting middle school girls
  • Texas State University—A key contributor to Mathworks, an elementary and middle school math program
  • Texas Engineering and Technical Consortium—An organization that supports computer science and engineering workforce development programs
