Initializing Intel® 80312 I/O Companion Chip Secondary PCI Bus Private Devices

Any device that connects to a PCI bus is required to have a configuration header that allows a system to identify and control it. An initialization procedure, typically a host BIOS, searches for these configuration headers and initializes all devices that it locates throughout the entire PCI Bus hierarchy. When a system designer wants to keep a PCI device ?private?, in order to utilize it in a sub-system, the device must not be detected by the initialization procedure.
