The MCS(R)-96 family members are all high performance microcontrollers with a 16-bit CPU and at least 230 bytes of on chip RAM. The Intel MCS-96 family of 16-bit embedded controllers easily handles high speed calculations and fast input/output (I/O) operations. Typical applications using the MCS-96 products include closed-loop control and mid-range digital signal processing. Modems, motor control system, printers, engine control system, photocopiers, anti-lock brakes, air conditioner control systems, disk drives and medical instrumentation all use MCS-96 products.
