For maximum impact, ATTO planned to deliver the entire Celerity product line simultaneously. The Celerity FC-24XL adapter, having the highest level of complexity, required the longest development cycle. ATTO's component selection processes required them to find a solution that was cost-effective and delivered the necessary performance and scalability. Successful introduction of the entire product line was at risk. |

It turns out that the Intel® IOP331 I/O processor, based on Intel XScale® technology, met these demanding requirements. The highly integrated IOP331 ported easily to the adapter design with little effect on the development process. ATTO delivered the Celerity FC-24XL storage adapter on track with the rest of the product family despite the challenges presented by its complex design. |

Since the Intel IOP331 I/O processor embodies a high performance processor with scalability, memory caching, and a PCI-X bridge on a single chip, ATTO was able to achieve maximum design and cost-efficiency. Because ATTO had used other Intel processors with Intel XScale technology, porting the design to the IOP331 was easy; the software had great similarity. Thanks to Intel's strong roadmap, product line compatibility, and highly integrated offering, ATTO was able to deliver a high-performance product on time. |
