Intel® 845GV Chipset

What is the Intel 845GV Chipset's integrated graphics based on?
The 845GV Chipset's integrated graphics is based on Intel® Extreme Graphics technology.

What are the differences between the Intel 815 Chipset integrated graphics and Intel 845GV integrated graphics?
The 815 chipset's integrated graphics, based on Intel Graphics Technology, used a 100MHz graphics core, 64 bit graphics engine, and 1GB/s memory bandwidth. The 845GV chipset's integrated graphics, based on Intel Extreme Graphics technology, has a 200MHz graphics core, 256 bit graphics engine, 2.1 GB/s optimized memory bandwidth, and many new graphics features.

In addition, innovations and advancements in 2D, 3D, video and display, along with texture compression that allows higher texture resolutions in the same memory footprint, make the 845GV chipset integrated graphics much more powerful than that of the 815 chipset.

Where can I obtain the latest 845GV video BIOS?
The vBIOS data is available off the Intel® 82845G Graphics Controller page. Select the "Get the latest graphics driver" link. Then select your Operating System. The vBIOS information is included within the accompanying ZIP file selection.

Would a board designed for the Intel 845G Chipset also support the Intel 845GV chipset?
The 845GV chipset uses the same footprint as the 845G chipset. Both are virtually identical, except that 845GV does not have an external AGP port.

Boards designed for the 845G chipset can support 845GV. If the board has an AGP port, it will be unusable with the 845GV chipset.
