What is the difference between an AGTL and AGTL+ system bus?
AGTL and AGTL+ use the same signaling protocol only at different voltage levels. AGTL+ operates at 1.5V signaling levels, while AGTL operates at 1.25V.
Can you change the core bus ratio?
Production processors have the Core Frequency to System Bus Multiplier set in the factory so the LINT[1:0], A20M# and IGNNE# pins are ignored. Only qualification units (those with a Q-spec number) allow you to select the multiplier.
Where are the IBIS models located?
The IBIS models for Intel®Pentium® III processors are located on the Developer site.
What embedded chipsets support the Intel Pentium III in a dual processor configuration?
The Intel® 840 chipset supports dual Pentium III processors. The Intel 840 chipset is the only embedded chipset that supports this configuration.
What are the supported embedded Intel Pentium III processors?
The currently supported Pentium III processors are listed on the Embedded Computing web page.
What embedded chipsets can I use with the Intel Pentium III processors in a FC-PGA/FC-PGA2 package?
The Intel embedded Pentium III processors can be used with any of the following chipsets: Intel 840, 815, 815E, 810, 810E2 and 440BX.
What is the difference between the FC-PGA and the FC-PGA2 package Pentium III processors?
The FC-PGA2 is essentially a superset of the FC-PGA package. The silicon core is encased by a heat spreader, which is integrally mounted to the FC-PGA2 substrate. The Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) is designed to improve thermal performance and is the interface for attaching a heatsink.
What VRM specification do I need to follow to support the Pentium III Processor with 512K L2 cache?
The Pentium III processor with 512K cache requires the use of VRM8.5. While previous 256K cache Pentium III processors required VRM8.4. If designing a universal platform to support both processors you VRM solution needs to follow the VRM8.5 spec which is backwards compatible with the 256K cache Pentium III processors. |
