Intel® i960® Sx Processors

Can 80960 Sx processors perform Floating-point operations?
All Intel® i960® processors can perform floating-point operations with the use of software libraries. The 80960SB has a dedicated hardware implementation of the IEE standard for binary floating-point arithmetic (IEE 754-185).

The 80960 SB processor provides a floating-point architecture as an extension to the 80960 architecture. This implementation includes a full set of floating-point operations, including add, subtract, multiply, divide, trigonometric functions, and logarithmic functions. These operations are performed on single precision (32-bit), double precision (64-bit), and extended precision (80-bit) real numbers.

Please reference the Intel® i960® SA/SB Microprocessor Reference Manual for more information.
