Intel® IQ80310 Eval Board

What revision of the IQ80310 evaluation board is currently shipping?
Revision F of the IQ80310 evaluation board is shipping as of August 2002.

What type of PCI slots do I need to use with my IQ80310 board?
The IQ80310 eval board has a universal 64-bit card edge interface. You can use the evaluation board in a 32-bit or 64-bit PCI slot. The IQ80310 board needs 3.3V supplied to the PCI slot. Make sure the orientation of the board, in the slot, is correct. Plugging a board into a PCI slot backwards could seriously damage the evaluation board.

When I turn on my host computer, the IQ80310 eval board appears "dead". The LEDs on the eval board are not illuminated. What could be the problem?
If the eval board appears "dead", make sure that the IQ80310 evaluation board is securely placed into a 3.3V PCI slot. Older host machines may not have the 3.3V powered to the PCI slots.

What software and development tools are included with the IQ80310 eval board kit?
Currently, the IQ80310 kit contains Red Hat's GNUPro* CD, ARM's ADS Evaluation* CD, FRU, WindRiver's VxWorks* Evaluation CD, Accelerated Technology Nucleus Plus* and Blue Cat* Linux CD from LynuxWorks.

I have an older revision of the IQ80310 eval board. How can I get a copy of the tools that are currently shipping with the new revision? Where can I find more information about these development tools?
Each company has their own website that includes information in regards to obtaining the tools.
** Please note the above web sites may change in time. If you encounter a broken link, please search on each of the sites with a keyword of "XScale."

What type of support is offered by third-party software vendors for the IQ80310 evaluation board??
Each vendor has their own support program. Please contact that company directly.

I heard WindRiver's BSP will only support revision F of the IQ80310 eval board. Is this true?
No, all revisions of the IQ80310 evaluation board will be supported by WindRiver.

Which utility should I use to program the Flash on my IQ80310 evaluation board?
You should use the FRU (Flash Recovery Utility). The FlashIO utility will not work properly with the IQ80310 evaluation board.

Is the source code available for the FRU?
No, the source code for this utility is not available from the Intel Corporation.

Where can I get a copy of FRU?
It is available on the 80310 evaluation kit web site and it is included on the IQ80310 evaluation board CD.

Can I use non-ECC memory?
No, the memory controller unit only supports ECC memory.

Can I get the schematics for the IQ80310 in Orcad?
The IQ80310 Evaluation Platform Board schematics are not available in Orcad.

Does Intel recommend a particular SDRAM memory module to use on the IQ80310 evaluation board?
The Intel Corporation does not have recommendations on OEM SDRAM modules. Only 168-pin +3.3 V SDRAM modules with ECC rated at 8 ns should be used on the board.
