 Commitment to diversity

Intel technology adds value to the lives of personal and business users—as corporate citizens in a global economy, we realize that this value is especially important to under served communities worldwide. We believe it is important that opportunities to learn and participate in an increasingly technical world be open to all people. We are committed to providing youth and under served communities with the tools and technologies they need to become the leaders of tomorrow.
Worldwide involvement
Developing future leaders
Intel believes that the youth of today will lead us into the world of tomorrow. We are investing in the development of these youth—particularly those in under served communities—through our Intel Computer Clubhouse. This after-school program is all about opportunity, potential and possibilities and provides under served youth age 8-18 with the opportunity to develop important new skills, explore new possibilities and discover new ways to shape their futures. Through the Intel Computer Network, youth around the world now have the opportunity to become more that just users of the latest technology, they can become designers and creators as well.

Education opportunities strengthen youth
Working with educators from around the world, Intel is preparing today's young people to flourish in the knowledge-based economy of the twenty-first century. Our goal is to help students develop the higher-level thinking skills they need to realize their full potential.

The Intel® Innovation in Education initiative is a long-term, sustained effort designed to:
Increase the effective and innovative use of technology in teaching and learning at all scholastic levels.

Improve technical fluency and problem-solving skills among under served youth through effective community-based education.

Increase the numbers of young women and under-represented youth successfully pursuing careers in high technology.

We collaborate with leaders from education, governments, industry, academia, and research organizations to design and deliver programs in more than 50 countries on six continents. Our programs are customized to meet the needs of each community.
National involvement
Supporting advocacy and advancement
Intel is involved with numerous organizations that focus on issues regarding advocacy and advancement of diverse constituencies. Based on achieving mutual goals, we look to form relationships of trust and action with external organizations whose missions and charters are aligned with making improvements in areas we can contribute our expertise to. These relationships include national diverse professional and student organizations, advocacy groups and diverse educational institutions and nonprofits. Examples of these organizations include the National Urban League, National Council of La Raza and the United Negro College Fund.

Local involvement
At Intel, expanding opportunity is what being an asset to our under served, diverse communities truly means. Intel's commitment to diversity is highly evident in our support of community-based organizations and their activities. We believe it is important to give back to the communities where Intel employees live and work.

Intel's role within community-based organizations
Intel works with nonprofit organizations and programs that expand opportunity and improve the quality of life in our communities. Our community outreach philosophy is based on what is called "strategic philanthropy"—making focused community investments that address important social or community needs and strengthen communities.

Our employees serve as nonprofit board members, volunteer for association projects and programs, while our underwriting furthers the mission and results these organizations achieve in our communities. Intel employee involvement with these groups has a tremendous impact on what these organizations can do for youth, the environment, diversity, and education.

Volunteers with the capacity to give
Intel strongly encourages employees to take an active role in their communities worldwide. Volunteering both business and personal time, individuals and groups of Intel employees take on community involvement and improvement projects to enhance their communities. Intel Involved, our corporate volunteer program, coordinates a variety of employee volunteer programs in support of diversity, education, environmental stewardship and safety, youth development and community service.

Intel's affinity-based employee groups are providing leadership and ongoing volunteer support to a variety of diversity programs and events.

Through our Volunteer Matching Grant Program (VMGP), for every twenty hours an Intel employee volunteers in a school, the Intel Foundation will match those hours with $200 for the school. In the 2003-2004 school year, 8,382 employees volunteered 188,376 hours, raising more than $1.8 million for local schools in diverse communities across the United States. This program, like other U.S.-based Intel networks, is expanding internationally in 2005.
