Intel's top executives honor Intel Achievement Award (IAA) winners
Intel CEO Paul Otellini and other top leaders officially congratulated the 251 employees from 28 teams who won what's often referred to as Intel's "Nobel Prize." The IAAs recognize the individual or team accomplishments that best exemplify Intel Values. Apr 2008
Eighteen schools have been named as finalists for the Intel Schools of Distinction Awards. The annual program honors schools for implementing innovative and replicable math and science programs that produce positive educational results. Schools compete for $1 million in grants and awards from the Intel Foundation and sponsoring companies. Apr 2008
The second season of the Intel-sponsored TV show "Design Squad" helps show young people the fun of engineering. Intel is awarding prizes in a special "Trash to Treasure" competition aimed at encouraging clever re-use of materials. Intel's role in the show is one example of their annual $100 million investment in increasing the quality of education worldwide, especially in science and engineering. Apr 2008
Honoring the next generation of American innovators, Intel announced the winners of the Intel Science Talent Search. The competition, often called the "junior Nobel Prize," is America's oldest and most prestigious high school science competition. Shivani Sud, 17, of Durham, N.C., won the top award, a $100,000 scholarship from the Intel Foundation. Mar 2008
Intel commits to 1 million hours of volunteer time to celebrate 40th anniversary year
Intel officially kicked off its effort to donate 1 million hours of volunteer time in its communities worldwide. It's one way Intel is saying "thank you" as the company celebrates the 40th anniversary of its founding in 1968. Mar 2008
Intel has committed to purchase more than 1.3 billion kilowatt hours a year of renewable energy certificates as part of a multi-faceted approach to reduce its impact on the environment, making Intel the single-largest corporate purchaser of green power in the United States, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has given its 2007 Water Efficiency Leader Award to Intel's Chandler campus, recognizing Intel's efforts to recycle water there. Jan 2008
The Third Annual Intel + UC Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge was won by a team of scientists that created a new technology to detect breast cancer earlier and more precisely. The Navaris Medical* entry was judged the best new technology with the greatest potential for a positive impact on society. Intel awarded the team $25,000. Nov 2007

Outside magazine lauds Intel as a 'best place to work'
Outside magazine has a new listing of the top 10 "most well balanced workplaces" in the United States. "Intel puts a savvy twist on perks, offering employees free backup childcare, consultations with a personal health coach, about three weeks of vacation, and paid eight-week sabbaticals every seven years." In Fortune's 2008 "America's Most Admired Companies" list, Intel has made gains over last year in the semiconductor industry in the areas of quality of management, use of corporate assets, and ranking by industry peers. Intel was also ranked #1 in corporate social responsibility. Mar 2008
Intel has announced the 35 companies that will receive Intel's Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS) award for outstanding commitment to quality and performance excellence. Mar 2008
Intel has announced the 13 winners of the company's most prestigious award for suppliers: the Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement (SCQI) award. The honor, bestowed for outstanding commitment to quality and performance excellence in 2007, recognizes companies that provided products and services deemed essential to Intel's business success. Intel is at the top of Corporate Responsibility Officer magazine's Best Corporate Citizen list for technology hardware companies. Dave Stangis, Director of Corporate Responsibility for Intel, was also named to Ethisphere magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the Business Ethics list. Feb 2008
2007 was a fascinating science year-researchers found new ways to create human stem cells, and analyzed soft tissue from a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Those were two of the year's top 10 scientific breakthroughs, according to Wired magazine. Intel is on that distinctive list, too. Wired called our new hafnium-based transistor technology a "tremendous accomplishment that allows Intel to squeeze features on each chip down to 45 nanometers from the current standard of 65 nanometers. But the greatest benefit may be an increase in energy efficiency." Jan 2008
The readers of Minority Engineer magazine selected Intel as one of the top companies in the country for which they would most prefer to work or believe are progressive in hiring minority engineers. Intel ranked #8 in their 23rd Annual "Top 50 Employers" survey. Jan 2008
Working Mother Magazine* included Intel in its 2007 100 Best Companies, citing the company’s commitment to programs and policies that support mothers’ at work and at home. Key benefits mentioned included wide-ranging flex options, generous paid maternity leave, and affordable child care. Oct 2007
The Dow Jones* Sustainability Index named Intel a technology supersector leader for the seventh year in a row. Intel is the only US-based company among the 18 companies recognized for their economic, social, and environmental records. The Dow Jones Sustainability indices are licensed in 15 countries with more than $5.6 billion under management. Sep 2007
Hispanic Business Magazine* and HispanicBusiness.com put Intel on their Diversity Elite 60 list for 2007, citing the company's commitment to the best practices exemplified by its diversity statement: "Diversity is the key to our success as an innovative leader in technology. We value and celebrate the unique viewpoints of our employees, communities, customers, and partners in the global marketplace." Sep 2007
