Privacy Policy Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: The policy was last updated on April 21, 2006. What changed?
A: Intel did not remove any privacy protections, but revised the privacy policy to provide better usability for the end user and provide more details on personal data collection.
We enhanced the following sections to more clearly explain our policy and practices:
- Uses of personal information
- Accessing and updating your personal information
- Unsubscribing
- Sharing your personal information
- Security of your personal information
- Data retention
- Transfer of personal information
- Validation of our privacy practices
- FAQs
In addition, we added two sections, non-personal information collection and personalization, to inform end users on Intel's policy for collection of aggregate data and customization of websites.
For detail changes of our privacy policy, please see our version changes (see text from the previous version). For future material changes to this policy, Intel will provide a prominent notice on our Web site prior to implementing the change. Should a change involve a material new use of information, Intel will also provide those affected with a prior and meaningful opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prevent that new use.
Q: What should I do if I have a privacy question after reading the policy and FAQs?
A:You can send your privacy questions and comments to us by using this form. We will use these items as input to future FAQs. Please do not send technical support questions to the privacy feedback form. Refer to support.intel.com for help with your non-privacy related questions.
Q: Does this policy also cover personal information collected offline?
A: Yes. We strive to have consistent privacy practices for your personal information, regardless of the medium used to collect the information.
Q: What is Intel's corporate philosophy on privacy?
A: Intel is committed to user privacy in our products and services. Read more about our Privacy Principles.
Q: I want to submit my Resume/Curriculum Vitae to Intel. Does this privacy policy cover my personal information I submit to Intel as a prospective employee?
A: Yes. Intel will use your personal information for recruitment purposes. If you are offered a job or become employed by Intel it will also be used for other employment-related purposes. We have created the following page to provide specifics on the Resume/CV data collection and handling process.
Q: Does Intel follow the Safe Harbor principles, as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC)?
A: Yes. Intel has self-certified for the Safe Harbor principles for off-line, online and manually processed customer personal data. The Safe Harbor agreement governs the data protection requirements for the personal information of European Union citizens, should Intel transfer such information to the United States. More information on Safe Harbor can be found on the US Department of Commerce Web site.
Q: Can I manage my electronic newsletter subscriptions online?
A: Yes. Subscribers are able to manage some of their online subscriptions at the Intel Online Subscriptions website.
Q: What do you mean by “personalized” website or newsletter?
A: A "personalized" website or newsletter allows the end users to view certain information they have requested. Intel allows an individual to modify certain websites or newsletters to their personal preferences based on personal information they have provided.
Q: Why does Intel have a channel privacy statement? Is it a separate policy?
A: No. The channel privacy statement is not a separate policy. Intel has created a channel privacy statement to supplement the Intel privacy policy to address specific channel privacy concerns. This privacy statement explains how we collect, use and safeguard the personal data we collect from channel members when accessing the Intel® Reseller Center websites located at http://www.intel.com/reseller/ and through any of the Intel Channel Membership Programs for system builders.
