Each version of the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager option ROM supports a specific set of hardware. Following are some examples:
Version 7.5 of the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager option ROM provides support for the following controller:
- Intel® 82801IR/IO RAID controller hub (ICH9R)
Version 7.0 of the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager option ROM provides support for the following controller:
- Intel® 82801HEM SATA RAID controller hub (ICH8M-E)
Version 6.x of the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager option ROM provides support for the following controller:
- Intel® 82801HR/HH/HO SATA RAID controller hub (ICH8R)
Version 5.x of the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager option ROM, where x is less than 7, provides support for the following controllers:
- Intel® 82801GR SATA RAID controller hub (ICH7R)
- Intel® 82801GH SATA RAID controller hub (ICH7DH)
Version 5.7 of the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager option ROM provides support for the following controller:
- Intel® 82801GHM SATA RAID controller hub (ICH7MDH)
If you have an older version (e.g. 6.x) of the option ROM installed on your system, you can successfully upgrade to a newer version (e.g. 7.5) of the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager. You cannot, and do not need to, upgrade your system BIOS to one that includes version 7.5 of the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager option ROM as it does not support your system.
Why does an error message appear the first time the Intel® Matrix Storage Console is launched?
