Intel® Matrix Storage Manager
Known compatibility issues

The below table contains known compatibility issues with the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager. Upon investigation, Intel has determined the root cause not to be the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.

When agreed to by the applicable vendor, Intel will attempt to work with the vendors to resolve the compatibility issues.

Application Issue Description Solution Affected Platform
APC* PowerChute* Business Edition If you have the RAID 5 write-back cache enabled, and are using the PowerChute software to manage your UPS device, the Intel Matrix Storage Manager will not be notified if a transition to battery power occurs. This means that the cache will not be flushed and disabled and data integrity cannot be maintained if a loss of power occurs. If you have the RAID 5 write-back cache enabled and wish to ensure data integrity in the case of a transition to DC power, we recommend that you uninstall the PowerChute software and allow the Microsoft* battery driver to manage the UPS device. ICH7R/DH
631xESB
632xESB
ICH8R/DO/DH
ICH9R/DO
ICH10R
Hitachi* Serial ATA Hard Drives with 3.0Gb/s transfer speeds If you receive an error code (STOP: 0x0000007a) during Microsoft Windows XP* installation with Hitachi hard drives, the transfer speeds of the hard drive(s) may be set to 1.5Gb/s instead of 3.0Gb/s. Use the Hitachi Feature Tool* utility to set the transfer speeds of the hard drive(s) to 3.0Gb/s and enable Spread Spectrum Clocking (SSC).

Note: This issue should no longer occur beginning with version 5.1 of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, even if the transfer speeds are set to 1.5Gb/s.
Intel 82801GR I/O controller hub (ICH7R), Intel 82801GH I/O controller hub (ICH7DH)
TrippLite* PowerAlert* If you have the RAID 5 write-back cache enabled, and are using the PowerAlert software to manage your UPS device, the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager will not be notified if a transition to battery power occurs. This means that the cache will not be flushed and disabled and data integrity cannot be maintained if a loss of power occurs. If you have the RAID 5 write-back cache enabled and wish to ensure data integrity in the case of a transition to DC power, we recommend that you uninstall the PowerAlert software and allow the Microsoft battery driver to manage the UPS device.
