Symptom(s):
LCD Display (integrated laptop monitor) blacks out after upgrading to Windows* XP Professional laptop display is black except for the mouse cursor.
Solution:
Prior to upgrading the operating system, install the latest Intel® graphics driver. Additionally, a BIOS update from the laptop manufacturer may be necessary to completely correct the issue.
If the operating system has already been updated, do the following:
1) Boot into Safe Mode by repeatedly pressing F8 until the boot menu appears, then choosing "Safe Mode" or "Safe Mode with Networking" from the menu.
2) Once in Safe Mode, install the latest Intel graphics driver.
3) Reboot.
4) Update to the latest BIOS from the laptop manufacturer.
