Symptom(s):

• Lord of the Rings*: The Return of the King game will not tun
• Error: "Could not find any compatible Direct3D devices with the required capabilities. Make sure you have current drivers for your video card. The Lord of the Rings(tm); Return of the King(tm) will now exit."

Cause:

By default, this game requires a graphics adapter with hardware T&L (Transform and Lighting) support to run. The affected Intel® graphics controllers (as listed in the 'This applies to' section) do not support hardware T&L. Software T&L can be enabled using a setting in the game configuration file.

Solution:

To eliminate or minimize the issue reported with the game, follow these steps:

1. Download the modified ROTK.ini file
2. Copy the downloaded file into the <My Documents>\LOTR The Return of the King™ Data folder.  
3. Run the game.
