Pentium® 4 Processor-based Systems Require Microsoft DirectX* 8.0 or higher
For maximum performance, Intel strongly recommends that Microsoft* DirectX (version 8.0 or higher) multimedia
system foundation be used when installing a Microsoft operating system on Pentium 4 processor-based systems.
Pentium 4 processor-based systems with previous versions of Microsoft DirectX will experience sub-optimal performance.
DirectX 8.0 or higher is required to support Streaming SIMD Extensions 2 (SSE2).
Any Pentium 4 processor-based platform will deliver higher performance when using DirectX 8.0 or higher.
