Microsoft Windows* Device Manager may show "Base System Device" with a exclamation mark on a yellow question mark, even after installing drivers.

The 'Base System Device' is one component of Intel® I/O Acceleration Technology, and the installer is included in the Intel® Network On-Board NIC Driver for Microsoft Windows
Download and unzip the file, and run \apps\PROSETDX\<OS version>\DxSetup.EXE to install the full package including the PROSET software; or \apps\setup\SETUPBD<OS version>\SetupBD.exe to only install the NIC driver
You may also manually install the driver by double-clicking the device, and browsing to: \platform\IOATDMA\Win32\ioatdma.inf for 32-bit Windows*, or \platform\IOATDMA\Winx64 for 64-bit versions.
Please note that in driver versions 10.4 and earlier, the full path is \platform\IOATDMA\WS03\ioatdma.inf for 32-bit Windows*, or \platform\IOATDMA\WS3XPx64 for 64-bit.
