Intel® T440BX Server Board
Power Supply and Connectors

Power Supply Requirements

The Intel® T440BX (NL440BX) server board is designed to operate with at least a 250 Watt power supply. For heavily loaded configurations, a 300 Watt power supply is recommended. The power supply must support a +5V standby current of 800ma for Emergency Management Port (EMP) capability when the system is turned off and for Wake On LAN* operation.

Power Connectors

In addition to the standard ATX power connector, the T440BX (NL440BX) server board features a tall six-pin auxiliary power connector. The auxiliary power connector helps supply additional power to the baseboard when the configuration being used is especially demanding and the baseboard needs more power to function properly. Using the auxiliary power connector is recommended:

  • When installing an Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) adapter in conjunction with several PCI add-in cards
  • When using high capacity DIMMs (such as 128 MB or 256 MB) in a system with an AGP adapter and/or multiple PCI add-in cards.
The majority of system configurations will not need to use the auxiliary power connector, but it is included in the event that it becomes necessary.
