What Operating Systems are supported by Intel® Server Manager? Intel® Server Manager Version 8.40 currently supports:
- Red Hat* Enterprise Linux 3.0 with Update 4 (for both 32 bit & Intel® 64)
- SuSE* Linux Enterprise Server 9.0 with SP1(Intel® 64)
- Microsoft* Windows 2000 Server with SP4 (32bit)
- Microsoft* Windows Server 2003 (32 bit) with SP1 (NTFS only)
- Microsoft* Windows XP Professional with SP2
What languages are supported by Intel® Server Manager? There are five languages supported: English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and German. If you are trying to install using a non-supported lanugage, by default the Intel® Server Manager installation will install the English version.
How do I ensure a successful Intel® Server Manager 8.x Installation? Please check the important installation checklist before you begin the installation. How do I uninstall Intel® Server Management? Previous versions of Intel® Server Manager must be uninstalled before installing a later version. A later uninstall applet may not uninstall a previous version.
Intel® Server Management 8.40 includes a batch script to clear previous installations AFTER the uninstall applet completes. Run ism.bat from \ism\Software\upgrade directory after uninstall but prior to installation of 8.40 if a previous version has been installed. Reboot before reinstallation.
NOTE: Do not interrupt the uninstall process after reboot while the DOS box appears.
How do I install and configure Intel® Management Module correctly? Please check the Intel® Management Module installation guide before you begin installation. In addition to the hardware installation, you must update BMC firmware. This is specific to the dedicated server platform to the latest one. If for Intel® Management Module Advanced Edition, you have to update EFS Web Server Image to the latest version.
Note: After you perform the BMC update, please make sure you update FRUSDR.
How do I remotely manage my server? You can manage your server remotely through both OOB(Out of band) and in-band.
