The embedded SM712 video driver has issues with the SAX2 graphic detecting function module. Install the latest SM712 driver to fix the problem.
SUSE Linux Enterprise 11
- New Install Using IDA
- Copy the driver package (.zip format) to a USB key
- Boot to IDA
- Choose OS installation | SUSE11 32bit or 64bit
- Choose Load Additional Driver | From USB Key
- Click Browse to select the package
- Finish the installation and reboot
- New Install Without IDA
- Install the OS until the Hardware Configuration screen
- Choose Skip Configuration

- After the reboot, enter Xwindows in VESA mode
- Copy the driver package (.tgz format) to a USB key
- Log in as root, mount the USB key, and copy the tgz file
- Type ‘tar –xvf /user/driver/driver_pkg’ to extract drivers
- Type ‘/user/driver/driver_pkg/install’ to install the drivers
- Reboot
- Updating An Existing Installation
- Press Enter when you see the Xwindows error
- Follow steps 4-8 above
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 u4 Installation
- Updating An Existing Installation
- Copy the driver package (.tgz format) to a USB key
- Press Enter at the GRUB boot loader

- Choose your kernel you want to boot and press ‘a’ to modify the kernel arguments

- Delete ‘rhgb quiet’ and press Enter

- While system modules are loading, press Ctrl+Alt+F2 until the screen appears stable


- Log in as root, mount the USB key, and copy the tgz file
- Type ‘tar –xvf /user/driver/driver_pkg’ to extract drivers
- Type ‘/user/driver/driver_pkg/install’ to install the drivers
- Reboot
