Intel® RAID Controller SASMF8I
TA 0908-1: Driver not detected during Microsoft* Windows Vista/2008 install

Description
During Microsoft® Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 installation with the Intel® RAID controller SASMF8I, the correct driver may not be loaded by the operating system, which could result in a warning message at bottom of install window – “No drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation”.

Root Cause
The issue may be seen during installation if the driver doesn’t include the correct Sub System PCI device ID for the SASMF8I controller. No driver will be listed in the install screen, and if the driver is located on a drive and browsed for the driver will be displayed on screen which appears to be loaded, but the load will fail and a warning message of “No drives were found” will be presented.
