Un-installation of Intel® Server Management 8.40 May Cause System Hang

Symptom(s):

Uninstalling Intel® Server Management 8.40 may cause Microsoft Windows* 2000 to hang or blue screen.

Cause:
The  un-installation script included in the Intel® Server Management 8.40 CD media will not able to remove the Microsoft Windows* 2000 Server PCI hotplug driver during the un-installation phase.

Solution:

Download IsmInstall.dot and save as or rename it to IsmInstall.jar. And use this new IsmInstall.jar to perform the following steps:
(1) For the users that have not installed the Intel® Server Management 8.40 software yet:

  1. Extract the  Intel® Server Management 8.40 ISO image to your local hard drive.
  2. Overwrite the original installation file with this new IsmInstall.jar.
  3. Re-pack the whole content as a new ISO image.
  4. Use the new ISO image to burn the CD and install Intel® Server Management 8.40.

(2) For the users that have already installed Intel® Server Management 8.40:
Use this new IsmInstall.jar to replace the original file under “c:\winnnt\InstComp\."
