FAN too Loud or FAN Speed too High - Quick Tips

This is a common occurrence if the following procedures are not observed during and after integration

(1) The FRUSDR (Field Replaceable Unit / Sensor Data Record) update should always be run after integrating an Intel® server board on an Intel® Server chassis. This would enable the SDRs to establish the correct fan curves for the system. It is also critical to choose the correct chassis when running the FRUSDR update.

(2) The Fan cables should be installed on the right fan headers on the server board. Refer to the Quick Start Guide that came with your Intel® Server Board and Intel® Server Chassis.

(3) Refer to a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about BIOS Settings that may help quiet down the fans. See BIOS Setting -> Fan Profile Setting, Performance Compared to Acoustic Mode

(4) Check for the Fan Ducts, the processor and memory air ducts need to be installed unless otherwise specified in the quick start guide or user manual that came with your Intel product.

If the above suggestions have been tried, check your System Event Log for information on the offending component as this maybe causing the fan to speed up or increase it's RPM.

The System Event Log utility can be downloaded here.
