Using Adapter Teaming with the Onboard NICs

There are two Intel® 82550PM network controllers integrated onto the Intel® Server Board SCB2. To increase the server uptime and performance, Intel network controllers offer the ability to be teamed together. In order to access the server management sub-system on the SCB2 via LAN, additional functionality was added to NIC1 on the board. NIC1 will function just like a regular NIC, however due to differences in the way Intel® Server Management and Adapter Teaming handle IP addressing, this NIC cannot provide both a server management interface and participate on a network adapter team.

The best way to set up adapter teaming and use server management via the LAN on the SCB2 is to add-in a third network adapter and team the add-in adapter with NIC2. This will allow you to have a dedicated management access point via NIC1 and a NIC team via NIC2 and the add-in card.
