The Intel® SS4200-E Storage System will be unable to join an Active Directory domain if the NetBIOS name of the domain is different than the fully qualified domain name (FQDN). If that is the case, the user will experience the following:
After inserting the FQDN of the domain controller, the OU information, the domain administrator’s username and password, the system:
- Creates a shared folder for the Domain administrator
- The storage is seen on the Active Directory tree as a computer (‘storage’) in disabled state
- Gives the error message “Unable to join the domain. Check username and password”
If the FQDN and the NetBIOS name are the same, there are no problems or error messages joining the domain.
