Heatsink and Fan Included Does Not Fit on the Motherboard

The boxed processor thermal solution requires installation by a system integrator to secure the thermal cooling solution (heatsink and fan) to the processor after it is installed in the 370-pin ZIF socket.

The Keep out zone is the area on the board that surrounds the processor socket that is free of board components in order to accommodate the heatsink. In other words, motherboard components should not be placed too close to the 370-pin socket attach tabs in a way that interferes with the installation of the boxed processor thermal solution. If the component keep out zone is not followed, the heatsink and fan included in the boxed processor may not fit on the system board and heatsink and fan for future processors may not fit. Refer to figures 1 and 2.

Therefore, before purchasing a motherboard and/or a boxed processor, verify that the motherboard has followed the component keep out zone specifications.

Note: If you decide to not to use the heatsink and fan, you may void out your warranty.
