How to identify my desktop processor and fan markings for warranty requests

Warranty related questions are one the most frequent requests we receive. Watch the Intel Warranty Guide for Processors video for answers to the most frequently asked questions on this subject.

The goal of this document is to help you identify what information you need to provide to us in the form of processor or fan-heatsink markings to determine if you are eligible for a warranty exchange.

Processor markings
All Intel® Desktop Processors have markings inscribed on the top of the processor package. The most recent Intel® Desktop Processor packages and markings are described below.

Some of these markings include the serial number of the processor which is required for warranty processing. The serial number of a processor is typically a combination of the finished process order (FPO) number and the assembly test process order (ATPO) number. You will need both numbers when contacting Intel for warranty service. If the ATPO Number is not present, you will only need to provide the FPO number.

If you have the finished process order (FPO) number and the assembly test process order (ATPO) numbers in hand, you can check your warranty coverage online at the Warranty Center.

If you are not sure about the processor package or socket for your processor, collect the processor markings and then contact customer support.

Fan markings

All boxed Intel® Processor fan-heatsinks have a three-year warranty and you can return the fan-heatsink without returning the processor. If you need to replace the fan-heatsink, document both the fan-heatsink markings and processor markings prior to contacting us.

Intel uses multiple manufacturers to supply their boxed fan-heatsink assemblies and fan markings differ for each manufacturer. All boxed Intel fan-heatsink assemblies have Intel hologram stickers attached to the top of the fan where the fan markings can be found.

Note Both the fan part number and the manufacturer part number are required for warranty processing.
  • Fan Part Number, example E41752-002, is the first number on the fan sticker.
  • Manufacturer Part Number, example DTC-DAA01, is usually the third line on the fan sticker.

DELTA*
A Delta fan follows the Manufacturer Part Number format DTC-XXXXX.

FUJIKURA*
A Fujikura fan follows the Manufacturer Part Number format FHP-XXXXX.

NIDEC CORP.*
A Nidec fan follows the Manufacturer Part Number format F09A-XXXXXX.

FOXCONN*
A Foxconn fan follows the Manufacturer Part Number format FNXXXXXX.
