Memory use increase with Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software version 10.5

Symptom

When Intel® PROSet/Wireless Network Connection Software version 10.5.0.0 is installed, memory utilization rapidly increases. Over a period of time, physical memory will be depleted, resulting in excessive use of virtual memory on the computer hard disk drive and slow performance.


Solution


This issue has been resolved in Intel PROSet/Wireless Network Connection Software version 10.5.0.1 and later. Intel recommends that all computers with Intel PROSet/Wireless Network Connection Software version 10.5.0.0 be upgraded to version 10.5.0.1 or later.

Will I experience the memory use increase if I only use the driver?
No. Your computer will not experience the memory use increase if the only software component installed is the wireless LAN adapter driver. If you install the Intel PROSet/Wireless Network Connection Software version 10.5.0.0, then your computer will experience the issue.
